I almost forgot how great salads are... Steak Frites

This past Friday, I started off Labor Day weekend with what I do best-- eating! I had an amazing lunch at Steak Frites near Union Square. Ever since moving to New York a month ago, I feel like I've been eating lots and lots of pasta at home with my roommates, and the one time I prepared a salad for the three of us, one roommate said: "what's with the diet food?" and my other lovely roommate said: "this tastes like rabbit food." I now try to just eat salads when at restaurants instead.

Cote d'Azur salad-- my new favorite salad. Rajah, the incredibly sweet general manager at the restaurant, recommended this salad to me, and I'm so glad! It's a great option for eating something healthy but substantial. The salad has seared tuna, jumbo shrimps, avocado, grape tomatoes, cucumber, artichokes, haricot verts, red peppers, and black olives.

Chocolate Molten Cake. I debated between this cake and the apple pie a la mode. I'm not sure why I bothered considering the apple pie though, I'm a true chocolate lover. I wish there had been a little more ice cream, but this cake was still perfect. Almost a little crispy on the outside and full of gooey chocolate inside.

The service was excellent. My server's name was Karen, and she spoke English with a heavy French accent. How much more authentic can this French bistro get? The salad was $17 and the chocolate cake $8. Not cheap, but incredibly satisfying.

  2. WOW. That's a lot of bones for ruffage. Toss a a nice T-Bone on the grill and a pint of good ice cream and I'm off to count my four legged friends.
