A few months ago, my friend brought me to see Cafe Lalo which I'd only ever seen in the movie You've Got Mail. We were so full that I could only quickly glance at the cakes and not think about eating them. Ever since then I've wanted to return, and what better opportunity than a cold wintry day after a trip to the nearby museum of natural history!
Brick walls & high ceilings...
Brownie chunk cheesecake. I wish there had been more of a crust on this cake, as that's usually my favorite part of cakes. Otherwise it was a really creamy and tasty cheesecake.
The most beautifully tasting chocolate satin cake. I swear this is how I've always imagined the cake is supposed to taste like in Roald Dahl's Matilda. Rich, sweet, moist, velvety.
A slice of cake is $7.50 and also not a very generous size at all. Originally I thought we should share one slice between three of us; good thing neither of my friends agreed to that idea.
