I finally started working out! My sister and I have been doing Tracy Anderson's mat workout as well as cardio dance routine. It's actually really fun for the most part. After a week of doing it I decided we should have some good old carbs to celebrate... It's all about a healthy balance after all!
We went to Da Andrea, where I celebrated my birthday last September. The owner actually remembered me and said "long time no see! How are you??" Okay, maybe he says that to everyone, but he's a sweet guy nonetheless.
Exposed brick. Need I say more?
The bread basket. Truly amazing. The focaccia is made daily and was so fresh and topped with lots of rosemary. The olive oil also had lots of olives in it which made it really flavorful.
Grilled Calamari with salad on the side $9. The squid had such a nice grilled taste and wasn't too chewy.
Vegetable tower with goat cheese and basil $8.50. I love goat cheese so much. This dish isn't terribly interesting, but still a good dish.
Homemade cavatelli with shrimp, fresh salmon in pesto sauce $13. So satisfying. My only small complaint is that there weren't enough pieces of salmon, although there was a lot of shrimp though.
Salmon filet with artichokes, sundried tomatoes & dijon mustard sauce $19. The salmon was absolutely divine. Perfectly cooked, slightly crispy on the outside and a strong natural salmon flavor. The dijon mustard sauce was terrific.
Chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream $7.50. The cake was very moist that it was quite fudge-like.
This was my third visit to the restaurant and every time I've had a good experience. The food is consistent, the servers are attentive and the prices are so reasonable, almost borderline cheap for a nice Italian restaurant close to union square.
