A few weeks ago I was kindly invited to experience the MAD Brunch at Pranna, a $28 prix fixe brunch that includes an entree and choice of 3 cocktails (bellini, mimosa, bloody mary, screwdriver).
Pranna takes their cocktails seriously, they were served in standard sized wine glasses, not slim champagne flutes. We hadn't eaten anything and because the food took quite a long time to arrive, we quickly became tipsy from finishing one and a half cocktails.
Home-made double stack waffles with sliced fruit compote & sweet cream. This didn't look too appealing, and unfortunately it wasn't very good. It tasted like frozen waffles from a box, and the fruit quite possibly came from a can.
Lobster benedict. The curry potatoes were slightly spicy and full of flavor, but the eggs benedict lacked hollandaise sauce (the best part of eggs benedict) and the chunks of lobster were too chewy.
We ordered a side of fries, and sadly it came lukewarm and lacked enough salt.
The venue is great-- I liked the high ceilings and the floor to ceiling windows, but the service was painfully slow and the food mediocre. It's definitely a great restaurant to visit if your focus is on getting tipsy at brunch for a reasonable price, though.
