Brunch at Norma's is always such a treat. Especially when we managed to snag a reservation time of 11:30am on the morning of! I know I've said this before, but one of the best things about being an early riser is beating the New York brunch crowds. Norma's was buzzing and full when we got there, but we only had to wait a few minutes after checking in with the hostess.
A lovely brunch crowd of tourists and New Yorkers. My only small complaint is the lack of natural sunlight in the restaurant. This may be easily ignored when the food arrives though.
Free shots of the smoothie of the day. It was tempting to order a regular sized smoothie after a taste of it, but we had to prepare ourselves for our insanely rich and wonderful entrees.
Waz-Za: waffle with fruit inside, outside, and a crackly brulee top, $24. One of Norma's specialties, and for a darn good reason. So memorable and without a doubt worth the calories and sugar intake. Perfect for a special occasion or just a regular Sunday morning brunch if you're ready for it.
Artychoked Benedict: eggs benedict with artichoke hearts, potato, and truffle porcini sauce, $25. An intense benedict that's covered with enough truffle oil to guarantee the beautifully overpowering flavor in every single bite.
Yes, we finished all our food. Yes, we walked for 3 straight hours afterwards before we finally felt like normal human beings again. And yes, a food coma swept over us eventually.
