Final New Orleans Post: Cochon Butcher

I saved the best for last!

I'd gotten so many recommendations from friends to visit Cochon during my weekend in New Orleans. I decided to save it for Saturday lunch, and unfortunately when I checked the hours on Saturday morning, I found out the restaurant only serves dinner on Saturdays. I was devastated to put it mildly. Luckily I found out Cochon Butcher, a less formal sandwich shop next door to Cochon would be open for lunch.

Cochon is a sandwich shop, meat shop, and wine bar all in one. There are only a few tables and some stools and bar seating, but because the turnover is pretty fast we were able to get a table for the 5 of us.

My amazing meal of mac 'n cheese, bbq pork sandwich, and root beer.

Bbq Pork Sandwich, $10: Carolina style pulled pork with slaw and side of potato salad. The softest bread, the most tender and tasty pulled pork, slightly sweet slaw, and horseradish potato salad. This is now my favorite sandwich of all time. Every bite was out of this world. As I look at this picture my mouth is actually watering. I miss this sandwich so.

Pancetta Mac 'n Cheese, $6: I don't remember tasting much pancetta in this. Although it was a decent mac 'n cheese, it was definitely overshadowed by my delicious bbq pork sandwich.

Pork Belly Sandwich, $10: on white bread with mint, cucumber, and chili lime aioli. (Served with homemade chips).

Give yourself enough time to wait in line to order and then wait a while for your food! Be patient, it's definitely worth it! Oh, and don't mind the people hovering next to you waiting to take over your table.
