Similar to Cafe du Monde, there was also a line already formed outside Acme Oyster House by the time we arrived for lunch. Luckily because it was just two of us, the wait was only around 10 minutes.
The restaurant is divided into two dining rooms. We were seated in the back room.
Chargrilled oysters 1/2 dozen, $11.50. The most amazing grilled oysters I've ever tasted. Mainly because there was cheese melted on top of each oyster! The french bread was great for dipping into the buttery cheese at the end.
Boo fries (regularly $4.99): fries with roast beef gravy and cheese. Delicious! The fries were slightly crispy and there was more than enough gravy and cheese to go around.
Fried soft shell crab po-boy, $15.99. Po-boy is a name used in Louisiana to refer to a sandwich served on French bread. We split one order, so this is my half of the portion. (Yes, it's huge.) The sandwich is served with french fries, which we switched for boo fries for an additional $2. I'd never had soft shell crab in a sandwich before, and even though there was lettuce, mayo, and tomato in the sandwich, it was still a little dry to me. The soft shell crab was a very generous size though.
