Pizza at Artichoke Basille

Since living in New York, I've heard many friends rave about the Spinach Artichoke pizza at Artichoke. All of them said that they'd enjoyed the pizza after clubbing or bar-hopping. I figured I'd try it because I do love spinach artichoke and pizza. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed.

The East Village branch only offers takeout. There's a bench outside the store that we sat at to eat though.

Artichoke's menu:

Spinach Artichoke Pizza, $4.50: A giant slice of very rich and creamy pizza. The first few bites were delightful, but the the richness was too much after that. Even though it's a thick crust pizza, I feel like such an intense flavor needs to have a higher ratio of crust to topping. I think I'll stick to California Pizza Kitchen's spinach artichoke dip and chips for now.

Artichoke Basille's is open very late. It's probably a great joint after a night out, but not so much for a mid-day meal.

  1. I like rich and creamy pizzas, but I agree that the crust ratio is important too. I hope they have pizza delivery.
