"Apple Picking" at Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard

This past weekend we took a car up north to Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard in North Salem to go apple picking. The drive was beautiful, and we saw so many vibrant orange and red trees along the way. Unfortunately when we arrived, we were told that all the apple trees had been picked, and we could walk up the trail to fill a bag with apples from bins (no fun!) or just walk around and enjoy the scenery.

The grounds also has a large pumpkin patch, small zoo with the most adorable ponies, and food stalls with pizza, barbeque, kettle corn, and doughnuts.

Pork nachos not really worth describing.

View from amidst the apple trees. After prolong periods of time in the City, I've learned to really appreciate the beauty of nature in the suburbs.

The beautiful apples. We're not really sure how or why they were in these barrels. If they were still good, why couldn't we pick them ourselves?

Cinnamon apple doughnut-- the best doughnut I've ever had, and a perfect way to end our day at Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard.

Right before we left, we came across Outhouse Orchards right across the street. In case anyone plans to go apple picking, this place still offers it! It also has a bouncy house, pumpkin patch, and corn maze ($7 per person).
