We placed our order with the first server who helped us, and because of a shift change, she left half an hour later. We had asked to be served the sandwich first, followed by the macarons and coffee. She left when we were finishing up the sandwich. A few minutes later, a different server asked us if we were interested in dessert. We told her we had already ordered macarons and coffee. She said okay, left, and then 3 minutes later a different server came over and presented us with menus without saying anything. I told her "we already ordered dessert with the first server, then just told another server about it." She asked "oh. What did you order?" I repeated the macarons and coffee order at that point. Around this time I also noticed several patrons in the garden getting impatient with not being able to track down servers. I'm glad these macarons were so delicious and the setting was beautiful, but at these prices (glanced at the cocktail prices and found that they were around $16-$18, which is just absurd-- higher than speakeasys and hotel bars!), service should really be impeccable.
The cutest window display. Loved the macaron tower and the graphics on the boxes.
Apparently Thursday evening is not prime time for the shop-- so different from the hectic experience on weekends.
Pretty European decor in the first dining room.
Victorian home vibe.
The garden is filled with pretty marble tables and comfortable chairs. It was nice and relaxing, and could be a great place to sit and read a book if dining solo.
Club Champs-Elysee: tomato, eggplant, zucchini, pesto, arugula, mozzarella, parmesan, pinenuts and basil with fries and mesclun salad, $18
A very decent but overpriced sandwich.
Reminds me of a Pret a Manger sandwich.
Salted caramel, rose, 4 for $11.20 ($2.80 each)
There's no arguing that Ladurée simply has the best macarons out there-- not sure how these even hold together when they just break apart so beautifully once you take a bite. Served slightly cold which makes it even better.
